5 Tips for a Clean Freak Vacation!

While traveling can be a fun and exciting, it can also be stressful when it comes to keeping your living space clean and organized. So today we have 5 Tips for a happy and healthy Clean Freak Vacation!

Hello Clean Freak Family! Happy Tuesday! Greetings from sunny Orlando!

We are taking a little break from the cold weather…(But not from Cleaning! LOL) We hope everyone can take a little break from Winter before Spring Cleaning officially begins!

You can always spot a traveling Clean Freak on the move… We bring our own mini cleaning kit and we are ready for action! Grime is our kryptonite so we need to disinfect before we can de-stress!

While traveling can be a fun and exciting, it can also be stressful when it comes to keeping your living space clean and organized.

Today we have 5 Tips for a happy and healthy Clean Freak Vacation!

5 Tips for a Clean Freak Vacation!

1. Come Prepared!

While flying restrictions may prevent us from bringing a carry-on bag full of our go to cleaning supplies… Pack a small bag with essentials like wipes, a microfiber cloth, and a small travel size sanitizer to keep surfaces clean and germ-free.

2. Take Control of the Remote!

Studies show that the remote control is one of the most contaminated items in a hotel room.

Some experts claim that it can be dirtier than the toilet and sink handles! As gruesome as it sounds, some people don’t wash their hands after using the restroom and then use the remote. Even more concerning, bacteria and viruses can linger on the remote after someone sick has stayed there.

So before you pick up the remote to unwind after a long day of travel, grab the disinfectant wipes and give the remote a thorough cleaning!

Pro Tip: Many of us prefer to use our phones for entertainment while traveling (We highly recommend frequently sanitizing phones while traveling as well!)

3. Get a ‘Handle’ on Travel!

Another high contamination site in hotel rooms is door handles. These tend to be high traffic and high usage from guests and staff. After disinfecting the remote control we strongly recommend wiping down and disinfecting the door handles and all high touch surfaces. (Light switches, lamp switches, blind handles, etc.)

4. Ewww! The Bathroom!

Nothing is worse than discovering a dirty bathroom after a long day of travel.

However, even if a hotel bathroom ‘looks’ clean we still prefer to give it a quick once over.

Typically, we wipe down the faucet (Including handles), countertop and sink with disinfecting wipes. Next (preferable with a clean, new wipe each step) we wipe the toilet flush handle, then the toilet seat, and finally the porcelain bowl top, sides and back. (And yes, we always carry extra green gloves when we travel!)

5. Clean Freaks NEED Coffee!

To be honest we prefer not to use the hotel room ‘complimentary’ coffee maker. Not to elaborate in too much detail, but who knows when the last time it was cleaned? We’re the mugs properly sanitized since they were last used?

At the same time, coffee for us is Clean Freak jet fuel. If your only option is the hotel room coffee maker we recommend running clean (preferable bottled water) through the brew cycle at least once before you brew your coffee. Also, thoroughly disinfect and clean any mug before using. Even if it has the ‘sanitized’ paper cap!

There you have it!

By following these simple tips, you can enjoy a cleaner and more comfortable hotel room during your stay. Happy travels!

Also, if you are in the Orlando area this week, you may see us wandering through Disney World. If we are in the Star Wars Disney Park we may be disguised as Clean Freak Jedi Masters! LOL Either way, please come up and say Hello! We always like to meet fellow Clean Freaks on the go!
