How to Clean Your Windows?

Are the neighborhood kids walking by writing ‘Wash Me’ on your windows?  If so, we got you!

Hello Clean Freak Family! Happy Cleaning Tuesday!

Today we are talking about Window Cleaning!

Just like any other part of your home, windows need to be maintained and cleaned regularly.

Over time, the buildup of dirt and grime can also cause damage to the glass, reducing its lifespan and leading to costly repairs or replacements. In addition, dirty windows can be a breeding ground for bacteria and allergens, which can negatively impact your health and well-being. So, regular window cleaning not only improves the appearance of your home but also ensures the longevity of your windows and the health of your family.

After a long winter, windows can get pretty dirty. Are the neighborhood kids walking by writing ‘Wash Me’ on your windows? If so, we got you!

How to Clean Your Windows?

1. Clouds Are Your Friend?

It's best to clean your windows on a cloudy day or in the early morning or late evening when the sun isn't shining directly on them. This will prevent the cleaning solution from drying too quickly and leaving streaks on the glass.

2. Start with Dry Cleaning!

Before you start using any cleaning solution or water, it's best to start with dry cleaning. Use a microfiber cloth or a soft-bristled brush to remove any dust, dirt, or cobwebs from the windows and their frames. This will help you avoid scratching the glass and make the cleaning process easier.

3. Use the Right Cleaning Solution

For best results, use a cleaning solution that's specifically designed for cleaning windows. You can either buy a window cleaner or make one at home using just a few drops of Dawn in some warm water. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners that can damage the glass.

4. Choose the Right Tools

You'll need a few tools to clean your windows, including a squeegee, a clean, lint-free cloth, and a bucket of soapy water. Make sure your squeegee is the right size for your windows, and choose a cloth that won't leave any lint or residue behind. Here are some tools we recommend!

5. Be Patient

Cleaning windows can be a time-consuming task, especially if you have a lot of windows to clean. Remember to work top to bottom. Take your time and don't rush the process. It's better to take your time and do a thorough job than to rush and end up with streaky, dirty windows.

PRO TIP: If your screens are covered in lint and fuzz use a lint roller to clean them!

There you have it!

Window Cleaning doesn’t have to be a pane in the glass! (Sorry couldn’t resist!)

By following these simple tips and using the right tools and cleaning solutions, you can have sparkling clean windows in no time. And remember, the satisfaction of looking out through crystal-clear glass is worth the effort!
