๐Ÿ‘‹ Hey Clean Freak Fam!

Brandon here. Can you feel it? Spring is in the air! Longer days and the sunlight hitting the kitchen counter at just the right angleโ€ฆ and suddenly you can see every single smudge, grease splatter, and mysterious crumb you have been ignoring since November.

Are You READY Clean Freak Fam?!?

That is not a problem. That is a signal! It is finally here and we are super excited! It is time for the annual Spring Cleaning Spree!ย

This year we are kicking things off in the kitchen. This is the room that works harder than any other space in your home. It deserves a real reset. And today I am going to walk you through exactly how to do it, step by step, without feeling overwhelmed.

Snap on your green gloves everyone!ย  Let's Go! ๐Ÿ‘‡

๐Ÿ“‹ย  Pro Tip before we start: The secret to spring cleaning without getting stressed is a checklist. Work through one step at a time, check it off, and move on. That feeling of ticking boxes? Pure motivation fuel. Grab our FREE Spring Cleaning Checklist at the Clean That Up store. It will keep you on track and make the whole process feel surprisingly satisfying. If you would like an actual physical and reusable book you can find that HERE.

๐Ÿ”Œ Small Kitchen Appliances

This is where I always start: Microwave, toaster, coffee maker, air fryer. The things living on your countertop that get used every single day and almost never get a proper clean.

Unplug everything first and move it so you have clear counter space.ย

๐Ÿ‘‰ Microwave trick:

  • Steam clean with water + vinegar

  • Wipe everything down like a pro

๐Ÿ‘‰ Donโ€™t skip the top of your appliances

  • Dust and grime like to really build up here.

Pro Tip: This is your easy win. Start here and let that momentum carry you through the rest of the kitchen. Small win, big motivation.

๐Ÿšช Kitchen Cabinets

Even when cabinets look clean, they are silently collecting grease, fingerprints, and cooking residue. Especially around handles and high-touch areas.

๐Ÿ‘‰ Always dry dust first
๐Ÿ‘‰ Then clean with warm water + dish soap
๐Ÿ‘‰ Finish with a dry microfiber for that polished look

The Process I use: The 3-towel system
Clean โ†’ rinse โ†’ dry

Quick Note: For painted or laminated cabinets, a little dish soap and warm water is all you need. For wood cabinets, I prefer to use Murphyโ€™s Oil Soap. Just remember less is more when it comes to using it. I usually only use a cap full.ย

Remember to work one cabinet or drawer at a time. Clean it, dry it, move on. This keeps everything manageable and prevents the job from becoming one big overwhelming mess.

Pro Tip: Once your cabinets are clean, the entire kitchen looks brighter and lighter. This step alone is a total game changer.

๐ŸงŠ Refrigerator Deep Clean

The refrigerator is one of the most important stops during spring cleaning. Over time odors can develop from spills and food particles in hard to see areas.ย  Also, cleaning and maintaining the refrigerator can effect efficiently the appliance runs.

๐Ÿ‘‰ Pull everything out
๐Ÿ‘‰ Toss anything expired
๐Ÿ‘‰ Take a quick photo before removing shelves

Soak shelves and drawers in warm water with dish soap and white vinegar for twenty to thirty minutes while you clean the interior walls, seals, and edges with a mild vinegar-based cleaner.

CAUTION!!! Allow the glass shelves to come to room temperature before soaking in warm water! The temperature difference could cause the glass to shatter. Safety First!

And do NOT skip this ๐Ÿ‘‡

Pull the refrigerator out and vacuum the coils behind it. Dusty coils make your fridge work harder than it needs to.

Pro Tip: Taking everything out feels like more work but it actually saves time and gives you a much better result. Trust the process.

๐Ÿ”ฅ Deep Oven Clean

The oven is the most skipped item in regular cleaning, which makes spring the perfect time to reset it. Built-up grease affects how your oven performs and causes smoke and smell when cooking.

Remove the oven racks and soak them in warm water with a dishwasher pod to break down baked-on grease. Apply your oven cleaner inside and let it sit. Dwell time is everything here. Spraying and immediately wiping almost never works.

๐Ÿ‘‰ Remove racks and soak with a dishwasher pod
๐Ÿ‘‰ Apply cleaner and let it sit
๐Ÿ‘‰ Give it TIME to work

For stubborn buildup, a razor blade scraper used carefully and with lubrication can do what no sponge can. Use a new blade, keep the surface wet, and let the blade do the work. Rinse thoroughly so no residue remains.

Pro Tip: Want to go even deeper on this one? We have a full blog and video breaking down exactly how to clean your oven, check the links below!

๐Ÿฝ๏ธ Dishwasher, Sink & Countertops

These are the hardest working areas in your kitchen and they deserve a proper reset. For the dishwasher, clean the filter first, wipe down seals and crevices, then run a cleaning cycle and let the machine clean itself.

Clear countertops completely before cleaning, nothing in the way. Use the right cleaner for your surface type and finish with a dry microfiber towel to prevent streaks.

For the sink, degrease first with dish soap, follow up with a cleanser that tackles hard water, scrub thoroughly, rinse, and dry. This is also a great time to clean the faucet head and garbage disposal.

๐Ÿ‘‰ Dishwasher: clean the filter first

๐Ÿ‘‰ Counters: clear EVERYTHING before cleaning

๐Ÿ‘‰ Sink: degrease, scrub, rinse, dry

Pro Tip: This is your sanitation zone. A deep clean here improves hygiene, reduces odors, and makes daily maintenance so much easier going forward.

๐Ÿ–ผ๏ธ Walls, Baseboards, Trim & Doors

Often overlooked, the kitchen is where cooking oils settle on every surface and become sticky. This attracts more dirt over time.

Spot clean splashes and smudges on walls, then wipe down doors, trim, and baseboards using a lightly damp microfiber towel. Work top to bottom so dust does not fall onto already-clean areas. Avoid soaking painted surfaces๐Ÿšจ you are lifting residue, not washing a wall.

๐Ÿ‘‰ Wipe walls, baseboards, and doors

๐Ÿ‘‰ Use a damp microfiber, not soaking wet

๐Ÿ‘‰ Work top to bottom

Pro Tip: Cleaning these areas is one of those finishing touches that makes everything feel truly fresh.

๐Ÿงน Floors - The Grand Finale

The floor is always the final step and the payoff of the entire clean. Everything from every step above ends up here, so save it for last.

Start by sweeping or vacuuming thoroughly, especially along edges and under cabinets where debris hides. Mop using a cleaner safe for your floor type, rinse your mop head often, and allow the floor to dry completely.

๐Ÿ‘‰ Sweep or vacuum thoroughly

๐Ÿ‘‰ Mop with the right cleaner

๐Ÿ‘‰ Let it dry fully

Pro Tip: When that floor is clean and dry, take a second to just stand in your kitchen and look around. That is the Spring Cleaning Spree payoff right there. Give yourself a high five! You earned it.ย
